Shangri-La's Mactan Resort & Spa

The origins of Shangri-La is best remembered in the 1933 novel by English writer James Hilton, The Lost Horizon. In it, he describes Shangri-La as a utopian lamasery high in the mountains of Tibet. That novel was made into a movie of the same name in 1937. A few years back, the eye of Shangri-La was mentioned in the movie The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

The Shangri-La group of resorts and hotels around the world are certainly utopia. One such utopia can be found in Mactan, Cebu.
